1.30 – Family Reunions are supposed to go differently
by inkadminThe explosion went off, the shock wave stronger than usual. Alicia must have really packed a punch into that one.
On one hand, Nathan was happy that the classes seemed to be improving her ability somewhat. On the other hand, she just exploded that thing in somebody’s damn face.
And where the fuck was the teacher in a situation like this? Nathan knew that the class should have ended a few minutes ago already, but that still didn’t excuse her from just leaving and not protecting her students once somebody just waltzed in here, or in this case, protecting that somebody from Alicia.
The students seemed to be enjoying this a great deal, though. They surrounded the duo of students in the center, goading them on to attack each other. Several people reached for their phones, just to realize that they were forbidden to take them here. Nathan was never the one to listen to such rules, but he wasn’t about to start recording this.
He rushed forward, his mind trying to comprehend what just happened in front of him. Did she go evil after all? Was the storyline unchangeable? There were no signs until now. She was prone to ranting on people, yes, and she definitely didn’t carry herself like a posh rich lady, but she still never outright attacked someone.
Well, she attacked Nathan, but that was out of a joke, not out of any real thirst for violence. Hopefully.
The dust settled quickly, and Nathan half expected somebody’s remains to be there on the ground, but that wasn’t the case. The man who was about the same height as Nathan was smiling down at Alicia, clicking his tongue. He was handsome, far more than Nathan would have liked to admit. He was the kind of pretty face that you compared yourself to when you wanted to feel a bit worse about your self-esteem.
His broad shoulders were adorned in the colors of the Ako Academy uniform, but there was a strange emblem on his shoulder. The letters on it said 3-S. A third year then? Interesting.
“My, my, Alicia. That was just as underwhelming as I have expected out of you. Seriously, that’s the best you’ve got?” The man sneered and then he shoved her away with just his index finger.
“Fuck you, Arthur. It was far stronger than it used to be, and you know it.”
“Oh, it was stronger, definitely, but it was the difference of a termite moving up into the strength of an ant. Still insignificant, I’m afraid.”
“Your and your mom’s entire existence is insignificant, you asshole. But at least I do you the favor of not mentioning that.”
The man’s face shifted as he looked down on Alicia. It was a slight change, but Nathan felt a chill run down his spine. Alicia didn’t change her stance, and she stood as if she was daring him to hit her. Nathan adored that defiance.
The man, Arthur, obliged her.
The front part of his suit shifted, and a giant stone pillar suddenly appeared, zooming straight towards Alicia. It hit her in her chest with unexpected speed, throwing her several feet backwards with an oomph. Something cracked. Nathan was already running forward before he realized that he was.
“Get up, you stupid bitch. We’re not done yet.” Arthur huffed. He wasn’t approaching her, but he was cleaning his arms, as if he punched with his fists instead of a teleporting rock or whatever the hell that was.
“Nah. Go fuck yourself, Art.” Alicia wheezed, trying to get back up from the ground. She failed, miserably.
Nathan finally reached her, scooping her up from the ground. She leaned on his shoulder, spitting blood on the ground. Her eyes seemed dazed, as if she didn’t know where to look. A concussion maybe.
“Who the fuck are you? Stay out of this, kiddo.”
Nathan looked over his shoulder, but he didn’t respond, instead checking Alicia. She was holding her chest; it was probably cracked, and that was a very optimistic deduction. The rocky thing appeared far too quickly.
“I’m…okay, Nathan. Stand back or he’ll hurt you.” She whispered, gritting her teeth. He could only imagine the pain she was in.
“You know that guy? Why did he attack you. or did he attack you? You were the first I saw moving, exploding your teddy right in his face.”
“Yeah, I know him alright. That’s my brother. Remember? The one whose clothes I gave you?”
Nathan looked at the man once again, and he realized that the resemblance was right there. He simply hasn’t connected the dots. Arthur had the same blonde hair and purple eyes, the same toned physique, though he was noticeably more muscular, and he had the same grin on his face. Although Arthur’s was a bit less wild than what Alicia was capable of.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Boy, stay out of this! Family matters. And the rest of you!” He turned towards the crowd that surrounded them. “Get away from my sight before I change my mind about not attacking more first years today.”
That wasn’t a threat. It was a declaration.
There were some disgruntled people from around them, but not many. The vast majority simply headed straight towards their locker rooms, occasionally glancing backwards. Nathan, Alicia, and Arthur were the only three people left on the small field before long.
“I don’t know what kind of family matters you have to discuss, but she’s hurt, so I’m taking her to the infirmary.” Nathan said, doing his best to hide the poison in his voice. He probably wasn’t that successful, because Arthur made a grimace of disgust.
“Seriously, Alicia, you let this speck of dirt speak for you? Make him go away before I do.”
“Nathan, go!” She groaned, straightening herself. She managed to stand straight for all of one second before she had to curl up once again.
“Fuck no. I’m not leaving you with this douchebag.”
