Alicia walked through the gate of Ako Academy. Her brother was nowhere to be seen, despite the fact that she begged him to guide her in her first day. That was just like Arthur, to pretend she didn’t exist.

She sighed and looked around the hall. There were a few people in front of the boards. She didn’t even have to look to know where she was placed. Of course she’d be in the F class. The recluse of superhumans.

Awakening her power was something she always dreamed of, something that she wanted more than anything. Her father and brother used to treat her a bit differently back in those days before she awakened. They weren’t kind, oh they were always anything but kind. But ever since her ability showed, they changed, and not for the better.

Alicia knew that her ability was weak. It was laughable compared to her brother and her sister. Anastasia, despite not being awakened for long, seemed to feel pity for her older sister as well.

Alicia didn’t let that stop her. She tried for months on end to hone her power, to use it as much as possible. But the teddy always remained the same. Where there was burning desire to grow into a hero just like her father, was now a desolate plain, devoid of any hopes for her future.

Yet she came here. How could she not? It was her last chance to make something out of herself. She would have to start at the very bottom of the heroes, but still she knew that she could improve her ability with time.

She looked at some of the S-Class first years as they laughed on the board, not bothering to look at it and went to the left, opposite of where she had to go. She felt a twinge of something twisting it her in sight.

Envy, her closest companion. Her breathing hastened.

She stomped towards her class, muttering curses under her breath as she headed towards where the rest of the recluse would be. One day she would make her father remember her name, look at her, at least for once. She wanted that look again. That sparkle of hope as he met her eyes. The twinge of love he seemed to hold for her, more than he had shown for her other dozen of siblings.

The crack of envy in her head began widening.

She made a decision as she walked towards her class. Those S-class heroes, born with powers that dictated their futures, the lucky few who took what was rightfully hers. She would repay them.

That was a way to make people look her way, wasn’t it? Surely…

She wouldn’t be remembered as a hero, but was that such a bad thing? Her options with her ability were so limited. Fucking genetics. A teddy?

Despite the fact that she was late, there was someone in front of the door to her class. A tall man, taller than almost anyone she had seen ever since she moved to Tokyo.

An outsider, here? At least she wouldn’t be the only one.

The sight broke her out of her stupor so much that she just stood there silent, and that silence carried the words of the man to her. He was muttering something to himself, trying to calm himself down, almost as if he was parenting himself in preparation to enter the class.

Despite the hate, the envy, and all the other feelings that were churning on the inside of her, it made her feel calmer.

“Alright, maybe a little bit anti-social, at least anti-social enough to talk to yourself in the middle of a fucking hallway, but you’ll do fine. Deep breaths.” The man continued on, and finally Alicia couldn’t hold it in.

She started giggling, watching the man. For a moment, the idea to record this flashed through her mind, but no, why would she do something like that? Why did she even think about doing whatever she wanted to do?

She felt horrible all of a sudden. But first, she wanted to meet this strange person. Something in her pulled her towards him.

Her mood was still somewhat sour, however, and so her greetings didn’t come exactly as she wanted.

“You gonna open that door any day now, weirdo?”

“You sure this is the way?” Vermillion Strike the said as she looked around.

“Yeah, I’m sure. I used a tracking device that Nathan put into his damn superhero app. He went this way, I’m sure, but then it just stopped!” Alicia replied and tried to fight the panic that was rising within her. How had the situation gone so badly once again?

Finally…. she wanted to talk to Nathan for the last week. But she was just so nervous. And then, once he called her to go on basically a date with him, she panicked.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Of course she did. Nathan was handsome and exactly her type. It was one of the reasons she talked to him at first, as much as she hated to admit it, but that wasn’t it all. No. She wouldn’t grow to like him that much if that was it.

Throughout these last few months, she came to know him, came to know him more than she knew almost anyone, and it changed her.

Her thoughts from a few months ago seemed laughable now. She felt like a new person. Ever since she met Nathan, she kept changing, as if rebuilt from top to bottom. Why did she care about her family’s approval in the past? It all seemed so laughable now.

She knew what she wanted to be, and knew where she wanted to stand on Nathan’s side. The realization struck her, but then she smiled. The forest that started stretching below was a nice background to what was going on in her head.

The fool always made himself the target, and she honestly felt fearful about whether he was still okay. They didn’t even know his exact location, but she would find him. She had to.

She would grow strong enough to help the people of Japan, and she would do it all with Nathan. And so he needed to live.

“Around here?” A male voice took her out of her thought process, and she looked to the side.
