The Last Safe Floor

When the sky fractures at 3:17 a.m. and the System descends, every building in Chicago becomes a dungeon, every street becomes a hunting ground, and every human receives the same command: Climb or be consumed. The first monster wave turns neighborhoods into slaughterhouses, while the mysterious Safe Floors appear inside high-rises, offering shelter, quests, and impossible choices. For Elias Ward, a disgraced paramedic haunted by the people he failed to save, survival begins in the basement of a collapsing hospital with a rusted fire axe, a bleeding child, and a class awakening no one was meant to receive.

Elias becomes a Grave Shepherd, a forbidden support class that grows stronger by guiding the dying, harvesting echoes from the dead, and binding monsters into temporary allies. As factions rise inside the towers—corporate warlords, cults of the System, military remnants, and desperate survivors—Elias must carve a path upward before the lower floors are erased. But the System is not a game. It is a migration filter, and Earth has been chosen as the newest proving ground for something vast, hungry, and already climbing from below.
