Unconquered Tower

A hundred years ago thirteen towers arrived on Earth. At noon on the summer solstice, the tower gates open every year admitting any who wish to climb. Those who survive and come back do so with incredible powers and riches, tales of different worlds and mythical beings. Over the decades the worlds contained inside of the towers have leaked free, changing the Earth and her inhabitants, the land around the towers saturated with mana and life, growing great and wild. 

Except for the Thirteenth Tower. The Unconquered Tower. 

Nobody has left the tower once they enter it. Every year the tower leeches more and more life out of the world, turning the American Southwest into a graveyard of life at a growing rate. If the tower isn’t cleared and the drain isn’t stopped, people worry that the tower will consume the planet.

Roan doesn’t care about that. The tower has long been the gravestone for his family as generations have tried to best it to save their ancestral homes. Now all he cares about is finally putting the burning question to rest. Are they dead? 

He only needs to clear the tower to find out.
