When the Sirens Became the System

    by inkadmin

At 2:17 a.m., every warning siren on Earth begins to scream—and a blue window blooms in the dark, announcing humanity’s induction into the System. Cities become spawning grounds. Apartment towers turn into vertical dungeons. Streets flood with ash-skinned Hounds, scavenger swarms, and things far worse that only come out when the lights die. In the first twelve hours, governments fracture, power grids fail, and the living learn the new rules: kill to level, awaken a class, claim territory, or be harvested.

Eli Mercer, a night-shift paramedic and former combat engineer, survives because he knows how to keep moving when everyone else freezes. But when he drags a handful of strangers into a subway station that mutates into a contested safe zone, survival stops being about escape. The station’s crystal heart can fortify their refuge—or corrupt it. Rival factions rise from the ruins, one preaching order through blood, another worshipping the System as salvation, while wave timers count down toward extinction. Eli’s class evolves into something the System did not intend: Warden of the Unclaimed, a brutal builder-defender hybrid tied to dead zones, broken places, and people no one else wants. To keep his safe zone alive, he’ll have to turn a shelter into a fortress, a scavenger band into an army, and himself into the kind of monster the apocalypse respects.
