Some time had passed since the establishment of the Living Metal Forge. The tunnel that allowed him to return to the dungeon or reach the orc-infested forest had already been completed. During the night, he hunted monsters outside for money, and during the day he worked on expanding his forge.

Most of the work was finished now. His lair had been fully repaired, and the shelves were stocked with steel and enchanted steel wares. Everything had taken much more time than he expected, but at last he was beginning to turn a profit. Using resources from the dungeon directly and transforming them into weaponry brought in far more money than selling them one by one to the guild or to merchants. Even though the prices were lower compared to crafted pieces sold by others, his earnings were strong enough to let him experiment with higher difficulty enchantments.

While his shop was thriving and he could easily reproduce many items for sale, not everything met his expectations. His leveling progress had slowed drastically, and the monsters he encountered were no longer challenging. The more he mined in the sunken caverns, the harder it became to find both enemies and resource pockets.

‘If only those troublesome humanoids would let me into the other tunnels. I am sure the most precious resources are hidden there. Why must humanoids always be so greedy?’

He had been forced to change his plans many times because the adventurers’ guild refused to grant him access to better sections of the dungeon. For a brief moment, he considered venturing into the orc-infested forest, but since C-rank monsters roamed there, he decided to postpone that risk.

There was some good news regarding his progress. Several of his skills had advanced further. His old skill, Basic Mana Body, had evolved into Metal Mana Body, which not only increased his mana regeneration but also granted an additional beneficial effect.

Metal Mana Body ( Living Armor )

    Passive Skill

Allows the user to absorb mana from the surroundings, increasing passive mana regeneration by fifty percent.

Any enchantments under this skill have their effects enhanced by five percent.

This was a considerable improvement, although it came with one drawback. Since his body was composed of twilight metal and he had made little progress in the field of twilight enchantments, he could not place valuable magical circles on his armor. The skill did not affect the weapons he enchanted, but at least the lightning mana resistance enchantment on his helmet benefited from it.

Armor Body Full Control ( Living Armor )

    Active Skills

A skill that allows the user to control the entire body at once. All living armor parts can be controlled independently.

His previous skill, Limb Control, had advanced, allowing him to manipulate not only his limbs but his entire metallic body at the same time. He still needed to test the limits, but the possibilities were much broader, and the mana cost had decreased significantly. To make things even better, he received an original skill upon reaching level seven.

Overload Enchantment [ Living Armor ]

    Active Skill

When activated, the power of an enchantment is boosted exponentially. After one minute, however, the enchantment is destroyed.

This skill was somewhat disappointing because it closely resembled Fortify Enchantment. To make matters worse, it corroded the affected enchantments, destroying them entirely, which made it difficult to use effectively. It could be combined with the other skill to generate more power, but it was best reserved as a last resort. In addition, several of his starting skills had already advanced to a higher level, which was the domain of D-rank monsters.

    Advanced Polearm Proficiency

    Passive Skills

An advanced version of the Polearm Proficiency skill. It improves the ability to wield polearms and is necessary to unlock more powerful polearm techniques.

Because of his frequent use of weapons such as halberds and poleaxes, this was his highest-rated passive skill related to weaponry.

    Advanced Power Thrust

    Active Skill

Perform an advanced, powerful thrust attack.

    Advanced Power Slash

    Active Skill

Perform an advanced, powerful slash attack.

His other techniques, such as Power Slash and Power Thrust, had also advanced, while some still lagged behind. One regret was the difficulty of acquiring absorbed skills. The monsters he hunted lacked a proper head that he could place his helmet over. Even when he tried to restrain them, it was impossible to gain anything. Orcs were a better target, but he was still uncertain if he was prepared to enter that forest.

‘Should I capture some D-rank adventurers and try?’

He thought to himself as he looked at the puppet that was the blacksmith Oswald. This was the man known as the new master blacksmith in the city. He had managed to produce several refined weapons, which caused the interest of the other adventurers to skyrocket. Fortunately, this fame also led to continuous advancement in his possession skill.
