Chapter 51 | Emma Smith
by inkadminAfter Emma left, Aiden and Kai took several steps toward where she had disappeared, but they stopped, knowing that it was futile.
That’s the famous Emma..? Theo thought as he crossed his arms. These two had been chasing around another main character like idiots. Considering their behaviour, Theo had no doubt they had been completely conquered by Emma. Hmm…
Dots started connecting in his head as he looked at where Emma just had been. Her words regarding a so-called stranglehold on Satou, the fact that Aiden and Kai didn’t prompt system notifications, therefore not being regarded as main characters…
And most importantly, the very explanation of his own class, Supreme Main Character.
[Supreme Main Character]
[The Supreme Main Character becomes stronger through stealing narrative power from other main characters.]
“Stealing narrative power…” Theo muttered as he held his chin. He was broken out of his trance by Satou patting his shoulder.
“Are you okay? You were hurt really badly just now.”
“I’ll be fine,” Theo answered with hardship, not convincing at all.
“What was all that about? And which abnormal did you mean you would show her? Were you talking about Aiden and Kai?”
Theo shook his head.
“I’m afraid she has already milked them dry,” Theo said with a grim expression.
“…What does that even mean?” Satou sighed, clearly understanding that all these main character shenanigans were beyond him. “Either way, we have to be careful. I sensed an unnerving wave of… something when I saw her face. As if someone was trying to wriggle into my brain.”
“Keen senses,” Theo muttered. He gently pushed away Satou’s hand before approaching the dumbstruck Aiden and Kai. Aiden was standing with his back slouched, muttering nonsense. Kai, on the other hand, was on his knees, looking down. He was completely silent.
“She was the iron-clad warrior..? But she’s a fair maiden. My female lead… How could she… And she’s stronger than me… I’m supposed to be the main character… Is that why it is..? My main character aura rubbed off on he-”
“Hey,” Theo clasped a hand on his shoulder and smiled wryly. “Are you okay?”
“I’m…” Aiden thought for a moment. “Yes. I’m fine, I think.”
“Good. I have a small question,” Theo said.
“Hm?”
“Hypothetically, let’s say, they were going to make a statue of you in the middle of Vandreth,” he said. “Hundreds of meters tall, visible from kilometers away. Adorned in gold, made by the most skilled craftsmen of the realm.”
Aiden’s back seemed to straighten out as a wide smile settled onto his face. The shock he was experiencing seemed to dissipate, instead being replaced by that signature arrogance and narcissism of his.
“But,” Theo added. “You have to stop seeing Emma for a month. You won’t talk to her. You won’t even hear of her.”
Aiden’s face froze. He then frowned and pushed away Theo’s hand.
“What kind of question is that out of nowhere? Of course I would choose…” He muttered. But his expression slightly shifted. Brows lowered, eyes dilated, his jaw going infinitesimally slack. “Of course I would choose Emma…”
Theo shivered, but didn’t let it get to his face. He patted Aiden’s back and told him to go back to the village.
Kai, on the other hand, was already half-recovered, talking to some of the remaining knights about something.
As Theo walked toward Satou, he couldn’t help but shake his head.
Yeah… That guy is a lost cause. There is no way that egomaniac would choose a girl over extravagance, he thought. I think Emma has stolen every bit of narrative power Aiden used to have, whatever that is. That, in turn, disqualified him from being a main character.
The thought of one day losing his system made Theo frown. He had to be careful around that girl.
“Let’s go back to the village. We will need the rest,” Satou said. Theo nodded hesitantly.
He really didn’t want to face Emma ever again.
Emma faced the young man again as she took in his new looks. Although it didn’t quite suit him, being bald was better than… Whatever that was back there.
“Can you stop blasting me with your mind-washing powers?” Theo asked with a frown. Emma held back a chuckle. Someone being able to fight back against her charms so properly was a first. Normally, even the strongest would be affected somewhat.
“It’s not intentional, my charm stat is too high,” she responded with a flat tone. Theo clicked his tongue. He looked around the center of the village. The sun was just rising, and the place was mostly empty. The early risers like the baker and so were at their houses; there was no reason to come there.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
It had been two days since the events back in the forest. As the steadfast protector of this little village, she was thankful to Theo and his friends. But emotions and work had to be separated, such was the duties of a true princess.
Well, at least, a former princess. She had yet to take back the kingdom for herself.
There’s no way that stuck-up Arthorias would believe me if I told him that I was a reincarnator. To think he actually broke through to Master-rate… It will be hard to take back Vandreth now.
“Okay. Whatever,” Theo muttered, noticing her lost in thought. “Follow along.”
“Be respectful,” she slapped the back of Theo’s head, causing him to stumble forward. The guy threw her a venomous look but didn’t say anything. She had to teach him how to be respectful to a princess. And also… His bald head looked really slappable.
Hmm… My hand hurts. Is his head made out of metal or something?
After a relatively short walk through the village and out into its perimeter, they arrived in front of a house in the process of being built. And if she had to be honest, it was pretty extravagant for a small village like this.
“Since when..?” She muttered. Theo seemed to pick up on her words as he answered.
“Several days. I help with the foundation setting, so it’s progressing pretty fast,” he said. Pride was clearly bleeding from his words as a slight smile hung from his lips.
Why is he so proud of doing menial labor? Was he born to be a peasant or something?
“Anyway, it’s far from completion,” he continued, adding a sigh. He then raised his finger. “That’s where our abnormal must be.”
Emma frowned as she followed his gaze. There was a small cabin to the side, clearly hastily erected and temporary.
