The midnight flight back was uneventful.
There was no security theatre, no questions for Eric, and no fans to mob her at the exit. She was not a signed artist, and Sony had decided against promoting a fifteen-year-old’s face. Whatever Will Be was a viral song that people could finally buy and share, but it wasn’t the right meta to have a place in popular media discourse.
Comparatively, Deer-re-mi was going to be a slow burn, as the song would be introduced to children’s programs, kindergartens, assemblies, daycares and nurseries via the gradual infiltration of products both for leisure and education. Its impact, assuming success, would be generational, but until a certain momentum had been reached, it was best to expect nothing.
