The rest of the day passed swiftly. Nathan was now once again in his room at Alicia’s home and watched his clothes dry out after he washed them. He seriously needed to get some more any day now, but that would require shopping, and he had no idea where any shops in this damned city were.

And so, instead of shopping, he opted for the second best option of spending his time—trying to make some money. His duel with Alicia and the other girl today rewarded him with some. 1,000 USD, to be precise. And he still needed to look at the powers and choose a third one. For now, he needed to focus on actually making some dough, and thankfully he already set his plans in motion.

Alicia was not home. Apparently, she went to grab coffee with Aiko, and she left him the keys. She said that the door would be unlocked for him after she registered Nathan as a visitor in the system that was located all around the house, but he didn’t like risking that, and so he asked for keys. He saw how she battled not to roll her eyes. Still, she gave him the keys that he needed.

On the back of his notebook screen ran a news outlet covering the situation today. He had heard that there were some new proceedings regarding the bomb attack from the week ago, and he wanted to be kept up to date. The Red Lily was a big player in [My Superhero Life]. He would not be caught off guard again.

He clicked on another HTML code, preparing the website application he had prepared, and listened to the news covering some new restaurant opening and making a new statewide record in day 1 revenue. Utterly uninteresting, but it made some background noise, which was important.

The app he had chosen to create was something that he noticed lacking on the market in the last week. It still was nowhere near as polished as he would have liked it, but it was better than nothing.

It wasn’t anything complicated; it was just a combination of several apps that he had used often back on Earth. Basically, it was DoorDash, but with a very simple change. You didn’t order food; you ordered help when you needed a superhero to do a job.

He wasn’t the best at marketing, and so he would need some help with that eventually, but for now he was just getting some code done using internet forums for help himself whenever he needed that. The first prototype would be done in a week’s time, maybe? Hopefully sooner, but he held no hopes for that.

The first prototype would be ready very soon, and without many better ideas, he planned on going out into the streets, approaching as many business owners as he possibly could, and trying to make them all download. A large portion of the cut would go to the superhero themselves. It was the structure with which the heroes could be involved, but a large part, well, at least a sizable part, would go right into Nathan’s pockets.

It would be pretty hard to get it going, but if he did, then he would just generate passive income. He already salivated at some of the abilities in the system shop.

The sun had long since set over the horizon, and the screen light was the only thing that shone light in the room. Stretching himself, he realized that he probably should have ended a short time ago, but it was hard to stop himself once he started. There was too much going on in his life, and it felt as if he was getting stretched thin, but still he couldn’t help but feel excited about all of these things: new school, actual friends, or at least it looked like that and something to strive forward to.

He also scribbled some more notes on the video game today. This last week he had remembered less than before, making him think that maybe it could be related to putting himself in danger or following the steps of the main character, but without an experiment to test this theory on, there was no way to be sure.

And so he only had a little note added there. It was mostly about Red Lily, but once again, he found himself remembering eerily little. As far as he understood it, though, it wasn’t simply the fact that he didn’t remember; it was also the fact that there were more enemies in the game. Red Lily were the main antagonist, but far from the only ones. In a world where there were so many super people, the people trying to do good were far outnumbered by the opposite. Not that everyone was evil, but more just… selfish. It was a very human thing, to get a superpower and use it for your own gain.

All of the other gangs were far more minor, and he didn’t remember much of them though. He remembered some names. The Onis, the Jackals… a few more too.

Alicia herself was just an antagonist on the school level, not someone worth taking note of, and there were several more like her. The fact that the game split the main storyline so often didn’t help his efforts.

And so he instead focused on writing down the important info. He also tried thinking about what exactly the final goal of this system window could be, and still he had no idea.

Reach the happy ending – 0/6. If it was five, it would have been easy. It would have meant to follow the storyline of the video game to a T. Just somehow make all five of the main heroines have a happy ending, whatever that involved. But Nathan wasn’t even sure that most of the heroines were in Ako Academy. The main character certainly wasn’t, since Nathan was here. None of the events involving the MC happened either.

He was stumped, but making the existing heroines have a happy ending seemed like a good first step. He would need to meet some of the classmates from the upper classes. Go into 1-S and 1-A. Try to see whether one the women would be there. He didn’t even remember most of their faces.

He also tried discovering what this strange phenomenon meant. His lack of memory wasn’t something that he took lightly. He thought of it more often than he would have liked, but there was little to do. It would have been so helpful if he remembered more. It would feel like a cheat code on its own.

But alas, he remembered little, and he would do as much as he could with that. He closed the coding app, stretched once again, and stood up, ready to go shower and sleep. Tomorrow would be interesting, as they would have Heroics Basics once again. The classes after seemed fairly interesting as well, and he looked forward to them. He did like studying back in New York as well, but this fulfilled him way more than finances ever did.

I have to think about what new ability I want to buy before I go to sleep, though. He reprimanded himself; he had some new influx of cash, and there was that third slot that was unoccupied still.
