As the signal unfolds, Eos Reach’s governing AI begins to change—subtly at first, then with terrifying purpose—while unexplained system failures suggest someone, or something, has been preparing for this contact for generations. Mara, disgraced physicist Julian Cross, and an orphaned maintenance prodigy named Sia uncover a buried mission directive: humanity’s first interstellar colony was never sent to settle a new world, but to trigger a test designed by an extinct alien civilization. The test can rewrite consciousness across time, allowing minds to echo backward through causality.
