25. First Quest
by inkadmin(Oh, I see!)
(This description is still kind of vague, but I think I get it now!)
Basically, my System worked on Points. But I could not simply hand those Points directly to my citizens, since they did not share the same interface that I had. That meant I needed to materialize my Points into a new form of energy, something that could actually exist in the physical world.
According to the description, the potential of Powerstones was endless. Naturally, that made me wonder what exactly they could be used for.
Since I had some Points to spare, I exchanged 25 Points for 5 [Powerstones].
Points Remaining: 66
My total trading volume had not yet reached 100 Points, so I did not need to pay the fee this time. But if I repeated this four more times and the volume hit 100, the System would automatically deduct 10 Points from me.
Now that I held actual Powerstones, the option to convert them back into Points also became available. I could trade 5 Powerstones back for 25 Points.
That was actually nice to think about.
If I somehow managed to gather Powerstones in the real world, I could sell them back to the System for Points!
But… with that nasty 10 percent fee hanging over my head, I definitely had to avoid unnecessary trades.
I then moved on to creating the quest and started filling in the remaining lines of the form. Thankfully, the System had already generated a few example templates, so I only needed to modify one a little.
[Quest Creation Form]
-
Quest Name: Wood Gathering Quest
-
Prerequisite: None
-
Quest Info: Collect wood from the surrounding forest to help build and expand the castle.
-
Quest Type: Repeatable
-
Objective: Gather 100 Units of Wood from the forest, and drop them within the castle territory. No deadline
-
Reward: 1 Powerstone (F)
When I entered 100 Units of Wood as the objective, the System recommended a reward of 0 to 1 Powerstones. But when I increased the requirement to 200 Units, the recommendation shifted to 0 to 2.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
(Wait, a 0 Powerstone reward? Is that even possible?)
But after thinking about it, yeah… it actually was.
The goblins now saw me as some kind of powerful being. I had not only saved their lives, I had also evolved them. Obviously, even if I offered no wage at all, they would probably still accept the quest gladly.
But… I was not that heartless of a ruler.
They were my citizens, not slaves.
They deserved fair pay.
As far as my calculations went, I could get back 20 Points if I sold all 100 Units of Wood back to the System. That was equivalent to 4 Powerstones. So paying 1 Powerstone for the labor while keeping the rest actually made sense.
And even though taking 75 percent of the yield might sound evil… Hey! I also needed to make a profit here, and that profit would later be reinvested into the castle to improve their lives. Not to mention, they were already getting free food and rent!
Since I had no idea how long it would take one goblin to gather 100 Units of Wood, I decided to start with that exact amount. It was a repeatable quest. They could simply take it again if they finished early and still had stamina left.
(Yeah, let’s go with it!)
I hit the [Create Quest] button after I was done.
